Product Description

Cinod-T Tablet is Ajanta’s two-drug tablet for high blood pressure. Each one has cilnidipine 10 mg and telmisartan 40 mg. Cilnidipine is a calcium channel blocker. It loosens the muscle in the artery wall. Telmisartan is an ARB. It blocks angiotensin II, the signal that keeps vessels tight and makes the body hold salt. The pair is used when one medicine has not brought the reading down. You may feel nothing while it works. That is normal. Take it once a day. It is a prescription medicine.

Key Information

  • Combination tablet for high blood pressure

  • Contains Cilnidipine 10 mg and Telmisartan 40 mg

  • Calcium channel blocker plus an ARB

  • Usually once a day, with or without food

  • Tablet form (usually a strip of 20)

  • For oral use

  • Prescription medicine from Ajanta Pharma

Key Ingredient

Cilnidipine (10 mg), Telmisartan (40 mg)

Key Benefits

  • Lowers pressure by widening arteries in two ways

  • Used when a single blood-pressure tablet is not enough

  • Helps reduce long-term strain on the heart, brain and kidneys

  • One tablet at a fixed time

  • Same salt pair as some other brands, made by Ajanta

  • Still needed on days you feel well

How Does It Work?

Cilnidipine limits calcium entering the vessel muscle, including both L-type and N-type channels, so the artery stays wider. Telmisartan covers the AT1 receptor. Angiotensin II cannot clamp the vessels or tell the kidney to hold salt. Pressure falls from both actions. There is no beta blocker in this tablet, so it does not slow the pulse the way a metoprolol combination does. Ankle puffiness, if it comes, is usually from cilnidipine.

Directions For Use

  • Take it exactly as prescribed, usually one tablet a day.

  • Swallow it whole with water. Do not crush or chew it.

  • Food is optional. The clock should stay the same.

  • Do not add another cilnidipine or telmisartan tablet unless your doctor has asked you to.

  • If a dose is missed, take it when remembered unless the next one is close. Do not double it.

  • Do not stop because one clinic reading looked fine.

  • Less salt, a daily walk and no smoking help the tablet.

Safety Information

  • Prescription medicine. Do not swap it with a three-drug strip that also contains a beta blocker.

  • Do not use if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy. Telmisartan can harm the baby. Stop and call your doctor the same day if you conceive.

  • Breastfeeding women should use it only if a doctor advises it.

  • Tell your doctor about kidney disease, liver disease or a past reaction to an ARB or a calcium channel blocker.

  • Ankles can swell. Raise your legs for mild puffiness. Report sudden swelling or breathlessness.

  • Potassium can rise. Avoid salt substitutes unless your doctor allows them. Blood tests check kidney and potassium.

  • Dizziness is common at first. Stand up slowly.

  • Keep out of children’s reach.

  • Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight.

Possible Side Effects

  • Swelling of ankles or feet

  • Dizziness

  • Nausea or stomach discomfort

  • Headache

  • Tiredness

  • High potassium

  • A change in kidney tests

  • Low blood pressure

FAQs

Q1. What is Cinod-T Tablet used for?

Ans. It treats high blood pressure with cilnidipine 10 mg and telmisartan 40 mg. Doctors use it when one medicine has not brought the reading down far enough.

Q2. Is Cinod-T a prescription medicine?

Ans. Yes. It is a prescription medicine from Ajanta. Do not start it from a family member’s strip, and do not double it after one high home reading.

Q3. Does Cinod-T contain a beta blocker?

Ans. No. It has only cilnidipine and telmisartan. It does not slow the heart the way a metoprolol combination does. Do not assume every “T” tablet is the same.

Q4. Why are my ankles puffy?

Ans. Cilnidipine can hold a little fluid at the ankles. Raise your legs when you sit. Call your doctor if the swelling is sudden, painful or comes with breathlessness.

Q5. Can I take Cinod-T in pregnancy?

Ans. No. Telmisartan can harm the unborn baby. If you become pregnant, stop the tablet and contact your doctor the same day. Do not wait for the next visit.

Q6. How should Cinod-T tablets be stored?

Ans. Keep the strip in a cool dry place, away from moisture and sunlight. Store it out of children’s reach and use it before the expiry date.
